Position Description
We are seeking a Payroll Assistant to support daily payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely payments, maintaining records, and assisting with compliance and reporting. This role includes providing payroll services for missionary members (clergy) in accordance with their individual budgets and overseas ministry assignments.
The Payroll Assistant also serves as a point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, working in consultation with and under the guidance of the Payroll Coordinator.
Major Responsibilities
Payroll Related

Process and post payroll for members, associates, staff and retirees via a payroll service:

Maintain details and documentation for payroll activity, including employee set up and payroll changes.

Complete payroll cycles with general ledger entry posting, reporting, and the transfer of retirement funds.

Prepare quarterly Form 941 reconciliations and adjustments.

Assist with payroll-related email communications.

Assist staff, members and retirees with:

Access to payroll provider portal.
-
Training timesheet employees and their supervisors on the use of payroll service.

Employment and compensation verifications.
-
Other payroll-related inquiries.
Tax and Compliance Related

Assist with tax and compliance requirements, including registration with taxing jurisdictions and annual reporting.

Prepare, distribute, and submit W-2 and 1099 forms at year-end.
Finance Department Related

Prepare and upload payroll transactions into the accounting system, ensuring accuracy of uploaded entries.

Assists with other projects and duties, such as payroll data analysis and reporting for the annual audit.
Other

Maintain familiarity with:

- Multiple state and local tax compliance.

Qualifications

Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Teams, Excel and Word.

Payroll processing, certification and/or equivalent experience (two plus years preferred).

Experience with church and clergy payroll preferred.

Income tax training, with two plus years preferred.

Experience with payroll software preferred.

Basic accounting knowledge preferred.

Self-starter who can work independently and take initiative.

Strong organizational skills and attention to details.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Team player.

Comfortable working with numbers and basic mathematics.
Compensation
The compensation for this position is need-based, starting at $28.09 hourly. It may include developing a team of prayer and financial partners to raise an increased budget for the salary. OMF will provide training and support to guide you through the partnership development process as needed.
